Strategic planning is a necessary step in the process of meeting supplier and workforce diversity goals. CMSI collaborates with company executives, general construction managers and Affirmative Action officials to develop customized systems and procedures that attract and retain diverse suppliers, vendors and workers. Specific strategies have involved:

• Creating detailed program implementation plans
• Facilitating contract and procurement opportunities for diverse suppliers and vendors
• Establishing program policies in conformance with clients’ operational procedures
• Implementing targeted supplier outreach events and vendor fairs to recruit qualified businesses
• Targeting and qualifying diverse workers for employment through outreach and training initiatives
• Developing and maintaining vendor/supplier databases, pre-qualifications and reporting procedures to track progress and overall results
• Developing and tracking workforce databases, procedures and progress reporting

CMSI has provided supplier and workforce diversity consulting and coordination on the following projects:
