$100 Million development of a performing arts and civic center in Madison. (Website)
Project Description:
The $100 million Overture Center development will incorporate portions of the existing Madison Civic Center with extensive new construction and remodeling to create a stunning center for the performing and visual arts.
Venues within Overture Center will include a new 2,250 seat Overture Hall to be used by the Madison Symphony Orchestra and Madison Opera as well as for touring productions currently presented at the civic Center. The existing Oscar Mayer Theatre will become a 790-seat home for the CTM Classic Family Theatre and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. The Isthmus Playhouse will be renovated to provide a theatre for the Madison Repertory Theatre and other community users. Three flexible rehearsal and performance spaces of varying sizes will be included to meet the needs of various experimental and community arts groups. These spaces can also be used for small cabaret performances, banquets and receptions.
The Madison Art Center will be expanded through the remodeling of existing space and new construction. The new museum will include a 220-seat lecture hall and larger gallery spaces.
